Bull City bikes

…and maybe always has. I found these pictures, dated 1927, on the Durham bike and ped listserv. Both were taken in downtown Durham, but I’m not sure where.

Local historian John Schelp wrote me the following:
“Noticed the two B&W photos on your website.

The Wonderland Theatre was located on East Pettigrew Street in Hayti (ie. east of Roxboro Road). F.K. Watkins owned the building which also housed a druggist.

The photo of the bicyclist going up towards a church is likely Church Street in downtown Durham. I believe that’s Trinity Methodist Church in the background (which caught fire in the day and was re-built).
